Brazilian Midfielder Could Match Ronaldo’s Wages with Champions League Return
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro could be in line for a massive salary increase if the club secures Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League this month.
The 33-year-old has a clause in his contract that triggers a 25% wage boost if United re-enter Europe’s top competition. Should they win the Europa League final on May 21 in Bilbao, Casemiro’s weekly wage would reportedly rise by £100,000 — bringing his earnings in line with what Cristiano Ronaldo was paid during his second spell at Old Trafford.

Casemiro’s Future Could Hinge on Financial Factors
The clause was agreed when Casemiro joined from Real Madrid in 2022, at a time when United had missed out on Champions League football. But with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe pushing for a tighter wage structure, the triggered increase could lead to difficult decisions this summer.
Reports suggest manager Ruben Amorim has been instructed to reduce the wage bill ahead of next season. While Casemiro was expected to leave, his return to top form — including a standout performance in the recent 3-0 win over Athletic Club — may force a rethink.
Amorim Still Values Casemiro
Despite financial pressure, Amorim continues to back the veteran midfielder, who has regained his starting role and influence in big matches. The Brazilian has stated publicly that he and his family are happy in Manchester, and that he sees his long-term future at the club.
Whether that aligns with the club’s cost-cutting ambitions remains to be seen — but United’s European fate could be the deciding factor.
